Horses: Passports

- To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what estimate she has made of the number of horses without a valid horse passport in each of the last three years.
- Answer

All horse owners are required by law to hold a passport for each horse they own. No specific estimates have been compiled regarding the number of horses without a valid passport. Local authorities are responsible for enforcing horse passport regulations throughout England, and penalties can be applied by the courts for non-compliance.
