Immigration
- Question
- To ask Her Majesty's Government how they are adapting their immigration policy to enable successful high-tech United Kingdom companies to expand in the United Kingdom rather than abroad.
- Answer
-
In reforming the immigration system, the Government has ensured that the system has the right degree of selectivity to attract those who will make the greatest economic contribution. United Kingdom-based high-tech companies continue to be able to source technical specialists and professionals from overseas through tier two of the points-based system. Leaders in the field of science and technology may also be admitted to work in the UK through the tier one (exceptional talent) route launched in August 2011 where their application is supported by an endorsing body such as the Royal Society.
