Question: If he will list those areas of executive action where he has discretion to act in respect of an individual without giving reasons for his decision.

Answer: Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the Attorney-General if he will list those areas of executive action where he has discretion to act in respect of an individual without giving reasons for his decision.[20546] The Attorney-General: No express statutory obligation to give reasons is imposed on the Attorney-General in respect of any of his functions. The extent to which it is appropriate for the law officers to give reasons for their decisions will vary according to the circumstances of the case.
