Answer: Mr. Simon Hughes: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 28 March, Official Report, columns 746-47, how many cases of multi-drug resistant TB have been identified in (a) London and (b) England and Wales in each of the last five years; and what action has been taken to monitor and control this new strain.[24774] Mr. Horam: For the most recent available figures for the United Kingdom, I refer the hon. Member to the reply that I gave to the hon. Member for Crewe and Nantwich (Mrs. Dunwoody) on 2 April at columns 181-82. Regional information was not routinely collected. A new system, started in 1994, should provide more detailed regional information.
