Mr. Hughes: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 28 March, Official Report, columns 746-47, how many TB cases have been identified; and how many TB-related deaths there have been in (i) London and (ii) England and Wales in each of the last 10 years.[24772] Mrs. Lait: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what has been the number of notifiable cases of TB in each year since 1975.[25258] Mr. Horam: The number of notifications of tuberculosis for both Greater London and England and Wales are published in table 5 of the annual reference volume "MB2 Communicable Disease Statistics". Copies are available in the Library. The latest year published is 1993. Data for 1994 and 1995 are shown in the table: Number of notifications of tuberculosis (excluding chemoprophylaxis) _________________________________________________________________________________________________. 1994 1995{1} Greater London 2,077 2,042 England and Wales 5,590 5,606 _________________________________________________________________________________________________. {1} Provisional. Figures for 1995 are not yet available.
