- In what locations and in what quantities (a) AEA and (b) BNFL have been discharging radioactive waste into seas and estuaries through outfalls.

Mr. Cousins: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment in what locations and in what quantities (a) Atomic Energy Authority and (b) British Nuclear Fuels plc have been discharging radioactive waste into seas and estuaries through outfalls.[27344] Mr. Clappison: Both the UKAEA and BNFL publish annual discharge reports which include the location and quantities of discharged radioactive waste into seas and estuaries through outfalls. The most recent of these are (a) "Radioactive waste discharges from UKAEA establishments during 1994 and associated monitoring results" and, (b) "BNFL Annual report on radioactive discharges and monitoring of the environment 1994: Vol 1: report on discharges and environmental monitoring; Vol 2: certificates of authorisation and environmental monitoring programmes". Both these reports are available in the House of Commons Library.
