Question: What consideration he has given to instituting controls on the video-taping of stage hypnotism shows and the sale of home videos.

Answer: Mr. Pickthall: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consideration he has given to instituting controls on the video-taping of stage hypnotism shows and the sale of home videos.[29081] Mr. Kirkhope: All videos, other than a small category of exempt works, must be certified by the British Board of Film Classification. It is a criminal offence to supply unclassified videos or to breach the classification certificate. The recent report by an expert panel on the alleged dangers of participation in stage hypnotism found no evidence of serious risk. I do not therefore propose to place additional controls on videos of stage hypnotism.
