Question: What grants his Department made to the European Movement in each year since 1985 to 1996; and what plans he has to offer financial assistance in future years.

Answer: Mr. Neil Hamilton: To ask the President of the Board of Trade what grants his Department made to the European Movement in each year since 1985 to 1996; and what plans he has to offer financial assistance in future years. [40080] Mr. Page: The Department of Trade and Industry made a grant of £40,000 in 1989 towards an education campaign on the single market. A further £32,000 was granted in 1990 and approximately £20,000 in 1991. The Department has no plans to offer financial assistance to the European Movement in future years.
