What was the cost of methadone prescriptions for drug addicts for each health board area for the most recent available 12 month period; if he will express this as a cost per 1,000 of the population; what guidance is given on the prescription of methadone. - I shall write and arrange for a copy of letter to be placed in Library.

Mr. Foulkes: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the cost of methadone prescriptions for drug addicts for each health board area for the most recent available 12-month period; if he will express this as a cost per 1,000 of the population; what guidance is given on the prescription of methadone; and if he will make a statement. [40677] Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as possible and arrange for a copy of the letter to be placed in the Library of the House.
