Dr. Hampson: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, pursuant to her answer of 11 November, Official Report, column 76, on school class sizes, what proportion of primary schools and secondary schools in 1979 had classes of more than 30 pupils. [4390] Mr. Robin Squire: Fifty nine per cent. of primary schools and 74 per cent. of secondary schools had at least one class of more than 30 pupils taught by one teacher in January 1979.
