Sir Anthony Grant: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement about the level of funding of the ambulance service and about its response times. [4420] Mr. Horam: Expenditure on ambulance services in England rose by 8 per cent. in real terms between 1991-92 and 1994-95, to a total of £533 million. In 1995-96 ambulances responded to more than 2.6 million emergency calls within the patients charter target times, compared with some 2 million in 1992-93.
