- What value DOE places on the number of butterflies as an indicator group of the state of biodiversity of species; what proposals he has to monitor the numbers of rare and common butterflies, and to establish new butterfly conservation areas; response to the Biodiversity Steering Group's recent published report; and what proposals DOE has to honour the UK's commitments made at the Rio de Janeiro Earth summit in regard to butterfly and moth conservation. - Inc ref to "Biodiversity: the UK Action Plan" and "Biodiversity: The UK Steering Group Report".
