Mr. Sweeney: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many bathing beaches in Wales comply with European standards; and how many did so at the time of water privatisation. [18839] Mr. Jonathan Evans: Last year, 52 Welsh bathing waters met mandatory European standards compared with 40 in 1989.
