To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his Answer of 4th December, 302 c288, if the Minister for the Environment was consulted about the appointment of Mr Keith Taylor before the appointment was made.

Mr. Brake: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his answer of 4 December 1997, Official Report, column 288, if the Minister for the Environment was consulted about the appointment of Mr. Keith Taylor before the appointment was made. [22026] Mr. Meacher: The membership of the Task Force was a collective decision taken in conjunction with my hon. Friend the Minister for Energy with my right hon. Friend the Minister for Transport in the lead.
