Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many people in East Lancashire aged under 60 years have Alzheimer's disease; and what percentage of this number is cared for at home.

Answer: Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people in East Lancashire aged under 60 years have Alzheimer's disease; and what percentage of this number is cared for at home. [19693] Mr. Boateng: Unfortunately, it is not possible to give my hon. Friend precise information as this is not available. However, a best estimate based on a recent national epidemiological study indicates that the number of sufferers under the age of 60 in East Lancashire would be approximately 80. It is not known what percentage of this number is cared for at home. My hon. Friend may wish to contact the Chairman of East Lancashire Health Authority for further information.
