Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what plans he has to introduce legislation to control the activities of those calling themselves psychologists who have been struck off the Register of Psychologists.

Answer: Mr. McNamara: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to introduce legislation to control the activities of those calling themselves psychologists who have been struck off the Register of Psychologists. [13796] Mr. Boateng: The Government have no current plans to introduce a system of statutory registration of the title psychologists. I recently met with representatives of the British Psychological Society and indicated the Government's intention for officials to work with them to develop a programme of work in order to ensure that existing systems for regulating and promoting good practice are maintained and developed.
