Answer

Mr. Robert McCartney: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when she plans to introduce an Order in Council bringing Northern Ireland legislation on stalking into line with the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. [1319] Mr. Ingram: The Protection from Harassment (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 was made under the negative resolution procedure at Privy Council on 8 April and laid before Parliament on 14 May. Neither the Protection from Harassment Act nor the Order in Council have been commenced. It is my intention to introduce the Northern Ireland legislation simultaneously with the commencement of that for England and Wales.
