Which organisations, and for what purposes, received the £105,000 Konver grant provided to the Rochford and Southend East constituency, which the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the honourable Member for Newport East, referred to in his oral statement on 22nd May. - Inc fact that recipient will be Southend Enterprise Training and that Minister will write with more detailed information.

Sir Teddy Taylor: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment which organisations, and for what purposes, received the £105,000 Konver grant provided to the Rochford and Southend East constituency, which the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Newport, East (Mr. Howarth) referred to in his oral statement on 22 May. [1691] Mr. Alan Howarth: The recipient of the Konver grant will be Southend Enterprise Training Ltd. The purpose of the grant is to help prepare workers from the Atomic Weapons Establishment in Foulness, which closed in October 1996, for work outside the defence industry. I will write to the hon. Member providing more detailed information and place a copy of my reply in the Library.
