Question: What assessment she has made of the implications for Her Majesty's Government's humanitarian assistance to (a) refugees and (b) the rest of the population in Northern Iraq of the clashes between Turkish troops and Kurdish political factions.

Answer: Mr. Vaz: To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment she has made of the implications for Her Majesty's Government's humanitarian assistance to (a) refugees and (b) the rest of the population in Northern Iraq of the clashes between Turkish troops and Kurdish political factions. [744] Clare Short: We are following with concern the Turkish incursion in Northern Iraq. We have not received any reports of new refugees, and no programmes for previous refugees are affected. Some supplies for the Pest Control Programme were temporarily held up. The Demining Programme has been interrupted in some areas. We have made representations to the Turkish Government.
