Mr. John Marshall: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will announce the outcome of the second stage of the quinquennial review of the Office of the Data Protection Registrar. [21561] Mr. Sackville: The second stage of the review examined the office's internal organisation and performance. I have placed a copy of the report in the Library. It endorses the registrar's programme of changes to improve efficiency, and suggests some further management improvements. We are inviting the registrar to consider these and prepare an implementation plan. Account will be taken of any relevant changes arising from implementation of the European Community data protection directive.
