Answer

Mr. Gordon Prentice: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he received the final report from the hygiene advice team on red meat. [19571] Mrs. Browning: [holding answer 10 March 1997]: This report was an internal working document for the Meat Hygiene Service which summarised and provided a comprehensive baseline of standards and practices in the fresh meat industry. I received a copy on 6 March 1997, although the range of problems identified had been known to me for some time and were, and continue to be, addressed on a plant-by-plant and strategic basis by the MHS in accordance with ministerial policy.
