Answer: Mr. Thurnham: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will commission research into the relationship between the proportion of children in schools eligible for free school meals and the academic achievement of schools. [20486] Mr. Robin Squire: No. There is sufficient analysis of pupil attainment categorised by proportionate eligibility for free school meals, as exemplified by the information published in Her Majesty's Chief Inspector's annual report for 1995-96.
