Mr. Alex Carlile: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he will publish his response to the chief inspector of Her Majesty's prisons annual report; and if he will make a statement. [10789] Miss Widdecombe: [holding answer 13 January 1997]: It is not our practice to publish a response to the chief inspector's annual report. The Government are grateful to the chief inspector for producing this considered and informative annual report, and have noted its contents.
