Dr. Howells: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what percentage of school leavers gained GCSE grades A*-C in (a) mathematics, (b) English and (c) science in the most recent year for which figures are available, broken down by gender. [9978] Mr. Jonathan Evans: Information is not collected centrally on grades achieved in individual GCSE subjects by school leavers. Information relating to pupils aged 15--age as at 31 August 1995--or the academic year 1995-96 is contained in the following table.
