Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, What recent research his Department has undertaken to evaluate the risks involved in using metal-based amalgams in dentistry. (Failed OPQ).

Answer: Mr. Llwyd: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent research his Department has undertaken to evaluate the risks involved in using metal-based amalgams in dentistry; and if he will make a statement. [57386] Mr. Milburn: Two projects have been commissioned this year. These are a pilot study of the incidence of adverse reactions associated with dental materials and a study of neuropsychological functioning of dentists exposed to chronic low levels of mercury.
