Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, What recent assessment he has made of the correlation between road traffic levels and health service costs. (Failed OPQ) - Inc ref to Road Traffic (NHS Charges) Bill.

Answer: Mr. Baker: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent assessment he has made of the correlation between road traffic levels and health service costs. [62481] Mr. Hutton: As part of the work which has been undertaken in association with the Road Traffic (NHS Charges) Bill, which is currently before the House, we have looked at the number of road traffic accidents which take place, their level of severity and the cost of treating those people injured in accidents. This information has informed the tariff of charges which will be applied under the terms of the Bill.
