Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster

Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, What progress has been made with the virtual Red Box. (Failed OPQ).
Answer

Mrs. Anne Campbell: To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what progress has been made with the virtual red box. [47948] Dr. David Clark: I am pleased to report that we are making good progress with prototype electronic Red Box, which I demonstrated in January. A new version is being developed using a small laptop computer, which will be activated by a Smart Card that will allow me to communicate securely with my office from any location in the UK. Testing trials on the new prototype will shortly be completed and I expect to be able to make more detailed announcement on the introduction of an upgraded prototype Red Box into my office before the end of the month.
