Mr. Simon Hughes: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is his present estimate of the monetary value of the backlog of school buildings, repair and maintenance. [34920] Mr. Byers: Under the previous government no such estimate was made. We shall require every LEA to prepare an asset management plan. This will identify the backlog of work to be carried out.
