To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, when he was notified by the Department for Education and Employment of cases in which convicted sex offenders have been offered placements working with children under the New Deal programme.

Mr. Clappison: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he was notified by the Department for Education and Employment of cases in which convicted sex offenders have been offered placements working with children under the new deal programme. [63889] Mr. Boateng: These allegations were brought to my Department's attention by officials in the Department for Education and Employment on 8 December.
