- To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what criteria are used (a) to measure the performance of British livestock and (b) to classify carcasses of livestock.

Mr. Evans: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what criteria are used (a) to measure the performance of British livestock and (b) to classify carcases of livestock. [63140] Mr. Rooker: For livestock animals, the performance criteria used are growth rate, feed efficiency and reproductive rate. For carcases, the performance criteria used are conformation, fat cover and the finished weight of the carcase.
