Mr. Baker: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if the information concerning the commercial release of genetically modified crops in 1999 and 2000 will be held on a public register; and what this information will include. [60249] Mr. Meale: Information concerning the commercial release of genetically modified crops in 1999 and 2000 will not be held on a public register. However, we anticipate that all commercial planting in 1999-2000 will be in the form of the farm-scale releases announced in Michael Meacher's statement to the House of Lords Select Committee on 21 October. Details of these releases will be published.
