Answer: Mr. McGrady: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans she has to introduce new roads' infrastructure schemes in South Down. [59538] Mr. Paul Murphy: Responsibility for the subject in question has been delegated to the Roads Service under its chief executive, Mr. W. J. McCoubrey. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given. Letter from W. J. McCoubrey to Mr. Eddie McGrady dated 17 November 1998: The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland has asked me to respond to your recently tabled PQ about new road infrastructure proposals in South Down. In addition to a significant programme of road maintenance and minor road works schemes, Roads Service proposes to provide a by-pass of Ballynahinch. The scheme is included in the 6-15 year major road works programme and will be implemented at a pace dictated by future funding levels and the priority awarded to such schemes by the new Northern Ireland Assembly.
