To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, what account is taken of (a) transfer pricing policies between UK subsidiaries and overseas parent companies and (b) the accounting policies of companies when determining profitability for the purposes of regional grants.

Mr. Gibb: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what account is taken of (a) transfer pricing policies between UK subsidiaries and overseas parent companies and (b) the accounting policies of companies when determining profitability for the purposes of regional grants. [58793] Mrs. Roche: The impact of a company's transfer pricing policies and accounting policies on profitability forecasts are taken fully into account when appraising applications for Regional Selective Assistance, particularly in relation to assessing project viability and overall economic benefit to the UK.
