Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to the Answer of 11th March 1998 at 308 c203W, how many places in local authority secure accommodation which were planned for after 1st May 1997 (a) have been provided and (b) were planned for on the latest date for which figures are available.

Answer: Mr. Clappison: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to the answer from the former Under-Secretary of State for Health, the hon. Member for Brent, South (Mr. Boateng) on 11 March 1998, Official Report, column 203, how many places in local authority secure accommodation which were planned for after 1 May 1997 (a) have been provided and (b) were planned for on the latest date for which figures are available. [58414] Mr. Hutton: All six places will be available for use early in 1999. The two projects that are providing these additional places have been in the planning stage since early 1997. The latest published Departmental statistics on children's secure accommodation provides details for year ending 31 March 1997.
