Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions following the introduction of a licensing scheme for private hire vehicles in London, if he will review the legislative provisions which prohibit any signage on private hire vehicles. - Inc ref to Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998.

Answer: Mrs. Dunwoody: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions following the introduction of a licensing scheme for private hire vehicles in London, if he will review the legislative provisions which prohibit any signage on private hire vehicles. [54526] Ms Glenda Jackson: The Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998 will repeal the London Cab Act 1973. The question of signage on private hire vehicles in London will be dealt with in regulations under section 30 of the 1998 Act. We shall consult before making regulations.
