To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, what steps he will take to ensure that the provisions allowing private hire operators to subcontract services to operators licensed outside London are not used to introduce lower standards than those which apply in London.

Ms Perham: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what steps he will take to ensure that the provisions allowing private hire operators to subcontract services to operators licensed outside London are not used to introduce lower standards than those which apply in London. [52197] Ms Glenda Jackson: The matter will be considered as necessary in the light of circumstances as indicated by Public Carriage Office's monitoring.
