Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his Answer (301 c60W, 17 November 1997), concerning information technology and prescribing, over what period PRODIGY is to be evaluated; and when decisions will be made about its extension to all general practitioner practices.

Answer: Mr. Burstow: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 17 November 1997, Official Report, column 60, concerning information technology and prescribing, over what period PRODIGY is to be evaluated; and when decisions will be made about its extension to all general practitioner practices. [45429] Mr. Milburn: The fieldwork for phase I of PRODIGY was carried out from October 1995 to April 1996, phase II from April 1997 to September 1997. The phase I final report has been completed and will be published shortly. Decisions will be made about the future of the project when the findings from both phases have been carefully considered.
