Question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, how many of the fast lines on the West Coast Mainline will be devoted to Virgin Rail Services following the upgrading agreed by the Rail Regulator.
Answer

Ms Keeble: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how many of the fast lines on the West Coast Mainline will be devoted to Virgin Rail Services following the upgrading agreed by the Rail Regulator. [45321] Ms Glenda Jackson: None. The upgrade proposal initially submitted to the Regulator reserved the fast lines on the WCML south of Rugby for high speed services. The Regulator's decision was that such rights to exclusivity were inappropriate, and this aspect of the proposal has been withdrawn.
