Question: To ask the President of the Board of Trade, which officials from her Department attended the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris in June; what were the costs of their attendance; and what funding her Department provided to defence companies attending this event. - Inc figs.

Answer: Ann Clwyd: To ask the President of the Board of Trade which officials from her Department attended the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris in June; what were the costs of their attendance; and what funding her Department provided to defence companies attending this event. [44507] Mrs. Roche: The DTI provided support for twenty UK firms exhibiting at Eurosatory in the form of grants towards the cost of participation. A preliminary grant has been paid to the Defence Manufacturers Association who were managing the UK group. Remaining payments are subject to claims not yet received, but the overall budget for the event has been set at £85,000. Two more firms were part of the UK group but are ineligible for grant. I have been informed that no DTI officials attended the event.
