Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, if she will comment on the implications of the use of forged medical cards for election personation; and what recent progress has been made in eliminating this form of fraud.

Answer: Mr. Robert McCartney: To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will make a statement about the implications of the use of forged medical cards for election personation; and what recent progress has been made in eliminating this form of fraud. [42166] Mr. Paul Murphy: The Government are aware of concern over forged medical cards for election personation. While the medical card cannot be withdrawn from the list of specified documents without an adequate replacement, the hon. and learned Gentleman is aware that my own Election Review is currently looking at every part of the polling process, both to enhance polling station procedures and accessibility, but also to consider alterations to present identity requirements.
