Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, if he will give the reasons for the dismissal of Mr Peter Ford as Chairman of London Regional Transport and the level of compensation paid. - Inc figure and ref to 22 April 1998, 310 c611-2W.

Answer: Mr. Ottaway: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will give the reasons for the dismissal of Mr. Peter Ford as Chairman of London Regional Transport and the level of compensation paid. [39969] Ms Glenda Jackson: I refer the hon. Member to the reply my right hon. Friend gave on 22 April 1998, Official Report, column 611. The compensation payable to Mr. Ford has now been agreed at £290,000 and will be paid shortly.
