Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, if he will list the disability organisations which will be consulted as part of the review of guidance to local authorities on the designation of footways as shared use facilities. Answer: Mrs. May: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will list the disability organisations which will be consulted as part of the review of guidance to local authorities on the designation of footways as shared use facilities. [37826] Ms Glenda Jackson: [holding answer 6 April 1998]: We expect to consult formally with our statutory advisers the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee along with the Joint Committee on Mobility for Partially Sighted and Blind People as well as the Joint Committee on Mobility for Disabled People. Views will also be sought from local authorities and groups representing pedestrians and cyclists. Comments will be welcomed from all interested parties. The review process is just beginning, and detailed consultations are unlikely to be initiated before the end of this year.
