- To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, what assessment she has made of the amount of state benefits paid out to injured claimants, which was recovered by the Compensation Recovery Unit from legally aided defendants during each of the last three years.

Mr. Hurst: To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what assessment she has made of the amount of state benefits paid out to injured claimants, which was recovered by the Compensation Recovery Unit from legally aided defendants during each of the last three years. [37012] Mr. Denham: No such assessment has been made since neither the plaintiff nor the defendant in injury compensation cases, where State benefits are recovered, are required to notify the Department if they have been granted legal aid.
