Mr. Prior: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on the impact of the 1998-99 rate support grant on the provision of social services in rural areas. [34065] Mr. Raynsford: The impact of the 1998-99 revenue support grant settlement on the provision of social services in rural areas depends upon local authorities' decisions on the size and allocation of their budgets.
