- Answer

Mr. Alan Simpson: To ask the Attorney-General what advice he has issued to the Government on the legality of an attack by the United Kingdom on Iraq under existing United Nations resolutions. [31228] The Attorney-General: There is a long-standing convention, followed by successive Law Officers, that neither the substance of the Law Officers' advice, nor the fact they have been consulted, is disclosed outside Government. I see no reason for departure from that convention on this occasion.
