To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what assessment he has made of the impact on competition within the British dairy industry of the Codex proposals on bio-yoghurt products. - Inc fig.

Mr. Spring: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment he has made of the impact on competition within the British dairy industry of the Codex proposals on bio-yoghurt products. [30705] Mr. Rooker: A detailed assessment has not been made. However, around 60 per cent. of the UK yoghurt market would be affected by the new requirement to re-label as "fermented milks" products sold legally in the UK as yoghurt.
