Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, what representations he has received on the difference between the carcase price for beef and lamb paid to farmers and the price charged by retailers.

Answer: Mr. Wigley: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received on the difference between the carcase price for beef and lamb paid to farmers and the price charged by retailers. [29591] Mr. Win Griffiths: This issue has been raised in recent discussions between my right hon. Friend and the farming unions. The Welsh Affairs Committee has also taken an interest in this matter and the Welsh Office provided a memorandum to the Committee on 14 January 1998. I subsequently gave evidence to the Committee on 16 February.
