Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, if students beginning courses in 1999-2000 and beyond will be eligible to claim travel allowance on the same basis as at present.

Answer: Mr. Welsh: To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if students beginning courses in 1999-2000 and beyond will be eligible to claim travel allowance on the same basis as at present. [29211] Dr. Howells: We are considering the detail of some of the supplementary allowances for new students in 1999-2000 and beyond, including travel. In considering the arrangements for travel we will have regard to the particular circumstances in Scotland.
