To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many vacancies were advertised through jobcentres in each constituency in Wales on 31st December 1997 or the nearest date for which figures are available. - Text of letter from TIM Holt of ONS.

Ms Julie Morgan: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many vacancies were advertised through jobcentres in each constituency in Wales on 31 December 1997 or the nearest date for which figures are available. [28892] Mrs. Liddell: The information requested falls within the responsibility of the Chief Executive of the Office for National Statistics. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given. Letter from Tim Holt to Ms Julie Morgan, dated 12 February 1998: The Chancellor of the Exchequer has asked me to reply, as Director of the Office for National Statistics, to your recent question on vacancies advertised through jobcentres in each constituency in Wales. Information on the number of vacancies advertised through jobcentres is not available by parliamentary constituency. However, this information is available by jobcentre area. The number of vacancies advertised through jobcentres for jobcentre areas in Wales can be obtained from the Nomis database accessed by the House of Commons Library.
