To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will comment on the increase in pre-accession aid announced in the Presidency conclusion of the Luxembourg European Council of 12th to 13th December 1997.

Miss McIntosh: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the increase in pre-accession aid announced in the Presidency conclusion of the Luxembourg European Council of 12 to 13 December 1997. [27519] Mr. Doug Henderson: We welcome the commitment to an increase of preaccession aid made in paragraph 17 of the Luxembourg European Council Presidency Conclusions. We look forward to detailed Commission proposals being tabled soon.
